Ancillary Tenant

A tenant, typically in a shopping center, that does not generate shopper interest at the same scale as an anchor tenant and occupies less space. Ancillary tenants typically pay higher rents relative to anchor tenants.

Example: The nail salon, barber, and framing store are often ancillary tenants in local shopping centers; a supermarket or large department store would often be the anchor tenant.
